Almost Walking

I think Elizabeth likes the potato salad. I hope it's good for her skin, too, since she's slathered most of her face with it. And, she's really close to walking (See the video at https://www.nekkosystems.com/betty_upload/DSCN1058.MOV).

Eating Machine

Elizabeth has developed strange habits for eating. Although this is typical of most toddlers, she does it in her own way. Most 1-year-olds love fruit juice and other sweets. Elizabeth will eat almost anything EXCEPT sweets. Today, she took to tomato juice. Last week, she enjoyed a sushi dinner at her grandmother's (but not the pie and ice cream we had for dessert). She does love milk and Cheerios, so I'm not too paranoid about her food preferences.

She's also become an independent little person suddenly. She wants to feed herself, and will refuse food given to her (mostly). Additionally, she is particular about putting things in containers, then taking them out, and making sure some surfaces stay clear - especially those at her eye-level. She's still working on walking, but I think she's just waiting until she can do it perfectly.

Just Can't Get Enough

Elizabeth jams another fistful of Cheerios into her mouth, as I try to capture her proper usage of the sippy cup. We are working on ridding her of bottles and pacifiers this month, and I am pleased to say that it is going well. Much easier than I had anticipated, actually.

I am also struggling with some wardrobe issues now. Although she is the perfect size for her 12-month outfits, her head is too big to fit through the neck opening of many. So, we are trapped into wearing onesies with the vented neck or her dresses with snap-back openings. I guess there are worse problems, so I won't complain too much.

Elizabeth Plays the Blues

Elizabeth helps her daddy play the piano at her grandparents' house Friday evening. The question is, will she be a musician or a dancer? All we know so far is that she loves music, and no one can find fault with that.

Happy Mother's Day!

We made a day trip to Santa Cruz today to celebrate Mother's Day. Here we are at Natural Bridges State Park, enjoying the warm weather and sunshine that made for a perfect Sunday.

In addition, when we got home this afternoon, she took her first little baby steps (only 2 - but unassisted)!

Just Being One

I haven't had any really good photo-ops for Elizabeth recently, except that she had her first ride on the swings (but I didn't have my camera). The weather is nice and warm here, so she is getting to enjoy many of the clothes that I thought she would outgrow before the nice weather reached us!
