Me Too!

Elizabeth likes to emulate Mommy, and here she is, carrying one of her "babies" (IOW-stuffed bunny) in the baby carrier. She asks about the baby constantly, from waking to bed time, and always lets me know when the baby needs attention with a concerned "uh-oh." She still doesn't realize how to be gently, though, so I do have to watch her very carefully with her little sister.

Milk Monsters

Helen - 5 weeks old here - sits calmly with her big sister. This is a rare moment, free of poking, pulling, grabbing, or squeezing. It didn't last long...

Fuzzy

Helen's hair is now sticking straight up, much like mine did when I was a baby. She's 3 weeks and 5 days old in this photo. She's still very needy - likes to be held a lot and wants to eat all the time it seems.

Big Shoes

Elizabeth has an interest in shoes (shoes and handbags to be specific), and she is determined to wear almost any shoes that she comes across, no matter the size. Here, she tries on daddy's shoes, but I think she has a long way to go before she can fill them!

Developmentally, she is getting closer to talking. She babbles in what sounds like sentences, and she is saying more words (I think), but she still retains the right to point, whine and cry to try and fill her demands. I'm sure it's hard for her, having to complete with a little baby sister that cries all the time, but she is getting used to being the big sister.

Someone asked me if Elizabeth was a "good helper." I wasn't quite sure how to respond, not wanting to reveal that Elizabeth seems more interested in poking her little sister's eyes and ears and running off with the baby's diapers and clothes. In not too much time, I'll bet they become close friends and good playmates. For now, it's a power struggle for mommy's attention.
